Writing
NON-FICTION:
FICTION:
Touch the Stars: Diaspora This is the sequel to my first novel, co-authored with John Dalmas, Touch the Stars: Emergence. It has taken a back seat to other projects for far too long. However, I've grown a great deal as a writer in the last few years. When I'm done with Edge of Remembrance, I will be ready to finish the next draft. As in software development, sometimes it is far easier to start a new project than to rework an old one. I'll be keeping this wisdom in mind as I approach the start on the next draft.
Education has long been a passion of mine. One might find this hard to believe once they know that I almost failed first grade. My teacher in Klamath Falls, Oregon saved me. Once she saw that this poor reader surpassed everyone else in math, she knew something had to be done. She took it upon herself to tutor me privately after school. At the time, I thought I was being punished. Arrr-r-rgh, torture!
I have come to be convinced that there is genius in every child. They may not all be Einstein's. Some may be Picasso's, others Edison's and the like. The current educational system is clunky and poorly organized compared to what it could be. I think the world's children deserve far better.
Another passion is that of the philosophy of "inclusion" (see my award-winning essay, "Outsiderness in the Scientific Community"). Mix these two together (education and the philosophy of "inclusion") and you get an idea my father, Rod Martin, had dreamed before he died that of having a foundation based on the best ideas in interdisciplinary problem solving. Over the next year, I will be putting together a business plan for the non-profit Infinity Dynamics Foundation (see, www.InfinityDynamics.org).
