From the desert Southwest, to the center of the galaxy and back again...

Below are a sampling of paintings done from 1968 through 1984.

Guadalupe Peak, Texas

Guadalupe Peak
Oil on canvas, 9" x 12"
1968

The location is West Texas, near the New Mexico border, about a hundred miles East of El Paso.  The foreground, however, is a construct of flora from a different location, somewhere in New Mexico.  This was used instead of the existing pavement and roadside picnic table.

Dawn on Rigel 4

Dawn on Rigel 4
Acrylic on canvas, 24" x 48"
1978

A rather fanciful, horse-like creature (a "chagga"), with giraffe spots and blue cartilaginous crest, resting on a hillside of an equally fanciful world, with two moons, and in a system that would normally be far too young yet to support life.

Hub World

Acrylic on canvas, 24" x 36"
1978

A rare world hovers above the hub of our own galaxy, its sun having long since left the more highly populated disk of the Milky Way.

Palace of Ari-Delia

Fields and Forests

Acrylic on canvas, 24" x 36"
1978

Two of Castor's six suns peer through the clouds of this Earth-like world, in a star system which should be too young for harboring habitable worlds.

Two planets against starfield

Two Worlds
Acrylic on canvas, 24" x 48"
1977

Two planets set against a rich star field, one planet similar to Earth, the other shrouded in poisonous vapors.

Taurus Lander

Acrylic on canvas, 24" x 36"
1978

A Martian Excursion Module has landed on the highlands of the Tharsis region of Mars.  The massive volcano, Pavonis Mons, can be seen in the background, venting gas, while overhead, Phobos, one of the planet's two moons, hurtles by.

The View of Jupiter from Amalthea

The View from Amalthea
Acrylic on canvas, 18" x 36"
1976

When this was painted, Amalthea was the closest known moon to Jupiter. Two others that are closer were discovered three years later.

Peace

Interstellar Peace
Acrylic on canvas, 24" x 36"
1979

The dove, international symbol of peace, has gone interstellar, with an Earth-like world in the background.

Golden Gate Bridge at Night
